About Us
Who are B.C. Parents and Teachers for Life?
We are a group of parents, teachers, and other
concerned residents of British Columbia who have a common interest in the
education of youth. We seek to promote a positive attitude towards human
life and to have schools support universally applicable principles of
morality. We recognize the rights of parents as the prime educators of
their children. We share with other pro-life organizations a commitment to
use only non-violent methods in the pursuit of our objectives.
Our Purposes
Our purposes are: to
promote a positive attitude towards human life, to support the legitimate rights
of parents as the prime educators of their children to determine the nature of
their children's education, to seek to have schools supportive of universally
applicable principles of morality, to seek to have teachers' organizations
refrain from the promotion of abortion and euthanasia, and to promote freedom of
conscience and justice for teachers in the public work-place. We have an
on-going commitment to use only non-violent methods in the pursuit of our
organization's objectives.

British Columbia Parents and Teachers for Life:
A Short History of B.C. Parents and
Teachers for Life
British Columbia Teachers for
Life got started about 1985 as an informal group of teachers drawn together by
their attitude of respect for human life and their concern about the issue of
teachers' organizations officially supporting abortion. After operating for some
years with a steering committee, we organized on a more formal basis in 1990. We
have expressed our support for freedom of conscience for teachers whose dues are
used to support anti-life policies, for parents whose rights are threatened by
the permission of pro-abortion counselling in schools, and for students who are
given pro-abortion messages instead of being challenged to show respect
for life. We believe schools should support universally applicable principles of
morality. We have opposed the introduction of school programs that would promote
a favourable attitude towards homosexual behaviour. In March of 1998, in
recognition of parent support, and in view of the fact that we are supporting
parents' rights, we became "British Columbia Parents and Teachers for
Life."
